Just like Peter Petrelli and Simone said in Heroes Season 1, everyone bumps into everyone in New York. Although there are millions of people who dwell within the city, you eventually somehow seeing their faces on the streets.
Perhaps it's because I live so close to school, I bump into everyone eventually.

I keep having dreams of me being in Toronto a week before my departure back to New York. And I wake up scared and then relieved that I'm actually in New York already eased back into the life that I have here.

I'm so sick of this one class that I'm taking called 'Designing Culture'; as vague and specific the name of the course is, so are the projects that we have to do. We have to study one particular subculture and create products that would suit this subculture according to our own 'field research'. Ideally it's a great class since it corresponds with our Global Issues lecture course however I always get critique like 'I'd like it to do more' (concerning a product I proposed). Or 'You should think about it' when I asked them how they thought I could improve it. This class has just been making me extremely angry and frustrated this whole semester because on one hand, the teachers dont' want us to design for them or make them happy, but on the other hand they always criticize our one week projects and then move onto the next so we have no way to improve or change our designs.
Well the past week I was so fed up with the class that I decided to do something really retarded. The homework was to put our subculture product into three different scenarios and change the product to fit the different 'landscapes'. Since my product was based loosely on a bag I decided to do some really random scenarios (in small print it said the scenarios could be sci fi or imaginary). So these were my three scenarios that I had to place my bag in:
1) A Masked Ball at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (real event in November). The bag became some kind of game.
2) An Elevator Filler at Parsons (we travel by elevator at Parsons and we always say that there are never fat people at Parsons because we need to cram as many people in as possible into the elevators. So my two friends and I thought it would be hilarious of we all used the same scenario according to our own product- we all came up with inflatable bodywear). The bag became an inflatable 'dress'.
3)A hot air balloon race. The bag was a symbol or a flag in a rat race for balloons on opposing sides to navigate around the land to find each other.

I decided to also ditch my whole modern line drawing/formula style and went back to my old fine arts scrawling with the use of traditional pencils. My hot air balloon race had a sun with a face and a moon with a large nose. And in the Masked Ball scenario I illustrated my roomie and I in each window as the 'story' progressed complete with ball gown and a top hat and carriage. And in the Elevator Filler, I drew an elevator going up three storeys and a girl ballooning herself to fill the entire space of the lift.

It was absolutely hilarious. I came into class literally with a smirk as I pinned up my work- I liked what I did and I just wanted to see the reactions of my teachers this time when I took the projects more lighthearted and to do something that I wanted to do (I honestly just wanted to draw hot air balloons). Anyway in the end the teacher said my scenarios were by far the most imaginative out of the others (my roomie even did an series of orgy mattresses stuck together for people to have sex on. Yes, that's how dellusional this class has made us).

Anyway, from now on, I'm not taking this class seriously because it's making me really angsty. I'll post up a picture of the scenario drawing later when I take a picture of it. argh. IDC makes me want to kill myself.
