Grade 12: The supposed 'best year of high school' has led to nothing. It has shown me how little friends I have. Perhaps the stress from school has made people more frustrated and thus, distant. Or perhaps they've found new friends, new groups, and have moved on.
So now I'm sitting here listening to 'Complainte de la Butte' from the Moulin Rouge cd and an aura of melancholy is settling down around me. The song... I can either picture a lonely, bohemian writer sitting at his typewriter staring out the window with glassy eyes, inhaling a cigar....or a couple dancing on the cobble stone streets next to a Parisian cafe. The intro of the song reminds me of a sepia toned image of a little girl donned in a little ruffled dress with black shiny shoes sitting at a baby grand piano, practicing her songs. She's by a half-open window and it's spring time in Paris... the notes waft out the window and disperse in the early morning breeze.

So I got a 64 on my essay outline for world issues. I managed to get an extra two marks and boosted it to a 68. When I first saw the mark, I didn't feel anything.. no resentment.. no disappointment.. not even despair. I guess after that English essay in which I got a 57 (yes finally everyone knows the mark.. I don't care anymore) I've learned to accept failures. But I give up on world issues. No matter how hard I try, I can't do well in that class because I talked to her today about the model outline she gave us.. it was faulty and she told me it a 'far from perfect outline'... so why did you give it to us to look at if it was so bad? She supposedly had told us the intro was supposed to be a page long and everything and she told us REPEATEDLY. Well I guess some of us are just deaf. I seriously don't remember her saying that.
Sometimes when you undertake a difficult topic.. I'm doing foreign aid and the corruption behind organizations... you just get a bad mark no matter how hard you try. It's hard to find corrupted NGOs... It's so easy for someone like April to do water... privatization of water... destruction of water... She will do so well. But for mine.. it's so sketchy because the organizations try to cover up their mistakes and there are barely any stats on them. Whatever. I just give up on world issues. I'd love to say that I believe that grades do not depict how smart you are but this is not how the system works. We're getting our world issues test back tomorrow. Whoohoo I can't wait to see my crappy mark.
Today at fifth, Rachel, Sarah, Lemuel and I were talking.. and Sarah and Lemuel were telling me about how these two guys in their discrete class (names shall remain unknown) were always talking about how to get girls and how to play hard to get and blah blah... one of the guys has a ton of Maxim girl pictures on his laptop.
This upsets me. My respect for this guy has just gone from HERE to here *gestures to the floor*. I don't understand how the male mind works but Maxim pictures are so off the 'normal, average girl'.... I find it quite derogatory to place a woman with a huge bust and a J-Lo bottom, posing in all sorts of suggestive positions. Maxim pictures make women look like a commodity and treat them with utterly no respect at all. Grow up. Just when I thought boys had matured, I've thought differently now. Today has changed my mind. I really think guys are stupid. It just angers me to see guys looking at near-porn images and fantasizing over them. It's utterly crude and degrading. I've lost all respect for the male population. Sorry I know it's a generalization but today just really ticked me off.
