Paper Thin Hymn: the beauty of words
These roads never seemed so long
Since your paper heart stopped beating leaving me suddenly alone
Will daybreak ever come?
Who's gonna call on Sunday morning?
Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands
I thought you said forever
Over and over
A sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends
August evenings
Bring solemn warnings
To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight
You never know what temporal days may bring
So Laugh, love, live free, and sing
When life is in discord
Praise ye the Lord
-Paper Thin Hymn, Anberlin
I think I've found my new 'It' band (though not MTV famous)- they're actually coming to Toronto this summer along with Yellowcard. They've also played in concerts with Christian bands like Kutless and Relient K. Funny. I'm not sure if they are a Christian band but I heard this song was inspired by the death of someone's grandmother and many of their songs hint of God (save 'Cadence' where God is the main focus from what I hear in the itunes clip). I find their songs quite poetic with a sense of abstractness and personification. I love the name of the song (I think all the names of the songs are great: symphony of blasé). I love saying words allowed- feeling its texture and luxuriousness as they roll on your tongue. It's one of those pleasures we tend to forget- the gift of speaking. I'm not talking about speech but just being able to talk- to make sounds and communicate with others. I think that's why I love writing descriptions- feeling my way through colours, moods and contrast; sifting through words, finding the perfect one to sum up all I want to say. Feel your lips moving as you create words and sounds. Luminous. Iridescent. Opulence. Flourish. Sadness. Depth. Intoxicate.
They're such beautiful words to say. Take pleasure in the little things.
